Yesterday, I received notification that I had been granted the 'Circle Of Friends' blog award from Jo, at Diary of a Sad Housewife. This is my first blog award and it means a lot coming from Jo.
Jo is the kind of strong, fiery lady I love. Life has dealt her unkind things to deal with right now, but she is persistent, optimistic, and full of love. Even when her light is dim, it is brighter than many. Her blog is very personal and I am constantly amazed by her strength and her compassion. I was delighted to receive the award and I am humbled and honored that Jo would include me.
In receiving this award, I am to mention five things I enjoy or like to do and then pass this award along.
Gardening- It centers me and maintains my connection with the natural world, something mankind is loosing at an alarming rate. It is also a great form of expression for me.
Walking/Hiking-Once again, it centers me; it places me in the here and now. It is a spiritual thing for me. The exercise doesn't hurt either!
Painting/Drawing- My preferred creative outlet. There is nothing like the feeling of taking something deep in your mind and giving it physical form. I'm not very good, because of my lack of training, but that is not what art is about.
Writing/Blogging-Writing and blogging give me my main connection to humanity and help me to express parts of myself I'm not good at expressing otherwise. I'm a very emotionally closed person(Stan can attest to that) and I have trust issues and my physical isolation, combined with my enochlophobia (the fear of crowds) causes further disconnection. Without these two things I would turn inward and believe me my introspection is not productive.
Spending time, any time, with the ones I love- I don't have many friends in the off-line world, but the ones I do have mean the world to me. They are my family and I love them with all my heart. It took me decades of my life to find Stan. He loves me, mind and body, for who I really am, with all my faults and oddities. We may drive each other crazy sometimes, but I do love him above all else and he is my best friend. Any time with him is a good time.
It was hard enough to narrow this list down to this number, much less any fewer. There are so many of you I would love to give this award to, but I can't give it to everyone.
All these people share qualites that make them exceptional people in my book. They make me smile, they make me cry, they make me laugh, they make me think, and they lift my spirit. They are all very intelligent, passionate about what they love, all have a tremendous sense of humor, all are unique people, and all care about the world around them. Every time I visit their blogs, they renew my soul and they restore my battered faith in humnaity. Any person lucky enough to call them a friend in the off-line or online world, must be lucky indeed.

Thanks Kyle, I'm honoured that you'd think of me. I'm happy to be in your circle of friends.

ReplyDeleteOh Kyle I got teary eyes. Of all the people that I can think of, you are by far the most deserving of such an award. Kyle, congrats on the award! You really are so friendly and Jo's blog is fun to read; she doesn't let life's unfortunate incidents drag her down, but instead is able to keep on truckin' as they used to say. I enjoyed reading about you in this post and hey we have a few things in common.
ReplyDeleteLarry & Howard have great blogs and I'm sure the others you listed do too, so I will definitely check them out! Again, congrats!
Thanks John. Jo is a terrific lady. I love her resiliency.
ReplyDeleteThings in common? Like what? Do tell. :)
Larry and Howard are grand. I miss you being able to post more often, but I know you are blitzed right now. Such is life.
Thank you so much, my dear. When I get back, I will be proud to display this on my blog. Hugs and kisses!
