Animal rights is a huge issue for me and PETA has an ongoing campaign targeting men and women, a somewhat broad demographic plan for PETA to try to reach. Dave Navarro, of Jane's Addiction fame, is joining the ranks of inked men, such as R&B singer Mario, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, freestyle motocross motorcycle racer and off-road racer Carey Hart(Pink's ex-husband), among others. I have posted their interview/partial shoots. Each man has some things to say about animal cruelty and why it simply isn't cool to be cruel. They are all easy to listen to; it doesn't hurt that they are all sexy as can be.

hard to pick my fav.... ;)
ReplyDeletethis is a great and hot campaign
ReplyDeleteThese tattoed guys are some of my faves - I saw Jane's Addiction and Linkin Park live - I just love their rock style - it's so rock n' roll, and how better it is for a cause - they have my attention, especially since I have seen the damage to such pets with a hurricane!
ReplyDeleteI just couldn't be more with you on this issue, Kyle. It truly lifts my heart to see campaigns like this, hoping desperately it has some positive effect. My philosophy on treatment of animals is quite simple - I don't wish to enjoy, or be entertained by, anything which is a result of animals having been treated in a way which I wouldn't have liked a human being to have been treated - especially since such 'pleasure' derived is so transitory. Is it really worth snuffing out the life of, or causing the suffering of, a sentient being to achieve it? My notion is a reversal of the generally accepted idea of treating humans as being specially privileged over animals, a view promulgated by most religions. But I do think if everyone took this idea as a rule of thumb, civilisation would be completely transformed for the better. (It also pleases me no end to know that at least one of my blogger buddies - you, Kyle - feels as strongly on this subject as I do.)
ReplyDeleteWell that is interesting. I am sure that should get peoples attention.
ReplyDeleteI know Steven, me too!
ReplyDeleteV, it is both for sure.
Steve, I knew you would have seen both! Both bands are amazing. They must have spectacular energy in concert.
Ray, I love the way you think. Right there with you until the end. Reduce suffering. Period.
I hope so Allen. :)
Thanks for your flattering comment. Kyle - but what I said is also the way that YOU think. So give yourself a pat on the back - plus another one from me. Btw in my comment above I omitted to cover the topic of your blog, viz animal products being used as clothing, even MORE especially when alternatives and substitutes are readily available. But I won't get started on that now as I know that we have congruent feelings on the subject.
